I Get So Emotional!

I Get So Emotional!

I Get So Emotional!

Emotions are the spice of life; they are so fun and can really make you feel alive! What happens though when the emotions or feelings we are experiencing are overwhelming and seem like they are taking over our lives, even to the point where we are not able to think clearly or function at our best, or worse the emotions are in the drivers seat of our life.

Here are a few ideas that can help you see what is happening a little more clearly and give you tips that can help you use your emotions to your advantage.

It is perfectly fine and even encouraged to seek help from your doctor if your emotions are continually spiking out of control and you are not able to calm yourself to a place where you can work with your emotions and feelings.

When emotions run high, logic runs low. If you are in a situation that is troubling, or you are triggered by something that creates stress or strong feelings, these moments can spin your emotions out of control.

  • There are many grounding techniques that can calm your body down from the stress of the situation or circumstance. Research grounding techniques and find one that works for you, this will help you be prepared for these moments ahead of time.
  • Breathing is the first place to start. Breath in slowly and hold if for a few seconds and visualize the stress leaving your body as you exhale. Repeat several times. Sometimes, it takes a few minutes of focused breathing to calm you down, but it works amazingly.
  • Once your body is calmer, you can activate your mind better so it can go to work for you. Focus your thoughts and use logic to get going forward again. Think it through in a best-case scenario, and sometimes it helps to think about the situation as if you were on the outside looking in. Remember that your focused thoughts influence your decisions and feelings which propel you into your actions and results.

Of course, emotions are a part of life. We need our feelings to help us heal from things and experience all the ups and downs of life. Often it is our feelings that help propel us forward. However, unchecked and overwhelming feelings that spin out of control and raise the stress in our body can do harm and even do the opposite of helping us. If we do not use them in a positive way, they can deture us from achieving what we want. Focus your thoughts, feel what you feel to heal and then get back up and get going using your miracle mind.

5 EASY STEPS TO AMPLIFY YOUR MESSAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Learn 5 simple things you can do to boost your social media presence in your marketing strategy.

What Was I Thinking?

What Was I Thinking?

What Was I Thinking?

Have you ever walked away from a mistake or situation and asked yourself, “What was I thinking?”. I am guessing you have because most of us have asked ourselves that question at one point or another. It turns out, that is the best question we could ask ourselves!

Focused Thoughts

Our focused thoughts are the breeding ground for our success. In any given situation, the only thing we can control is how we think about it. When we focus our thoughts on positivity, thinking about solutions and open ourselves up to challenge limiting beliefs, we’ve walked through a door leading us to better decisions, feelings, and a more desired result.

Our Miracle Mind

Sometimes we get in our own way by confusing our mind. We want success, a loving relationship, fulfillment, a great career, or whatever the dream is; but then a doubt enters our mind and we start believing it. Our mind goes to work to prove that limiting belief by looking for evidence that the negative belief is correct. Our mind is logical and wants to be right.

Stop, Pause and Re-Direct

When we feel doubt arising – STOP, PAUSE, and RE-DIRECT your thoughts. In that very moment, catch yourself and stop the limiting belief, flip it to a better thought to focus on that will produce what you really want. Give your mind all great things to work with, all the amazing possibilities. Continue to re-direct as many times as you can. Let your mind go to work for you. It will search for everything you need to make it happen. It will prove you right that you are successful, happy, resourceful and highly capable.

Guard Your Thoughts

Because our mind is actively working for us, it is imparitive that we guard our thoughts. Imagine your mind as a garden. Would you plant seeds that produce something you would never eat or want to look at? Would you leave your plants unattended and let weeds choke the growth of the plant? Of course not. So, get to planting the right thoughts and weed out those which would thwart your goals or your positive self image.

What You Think About, Comes About

Taking time to meditate and focusing your thoughts on positive possibilities is feeding your mind good things to work with. Pondering on new information or teachings, and thinking of solutions, has a great impact on your mind for getting a better outcome. Pick a topic that you feel would help your personal growth, then go research all you can from experts on the topic. Ponder what you have read and meditate on it. Open your mind to new ideas and inspiration that motivates you. Look for ways to implement what you are learning. Implement one idea with action until it becomes a part of your productive life. Then add another and so forth. You will grow exponentially when you take time to feed your mind with positive thoughts of change and growth.

Go forward in strength knowing you can truly create the life you want, one thought at a time, one decision at a time, and one action at a time, getting the best results for your empowered life.

Why Hiring Professionals Is Better for Business

Why Hiring Professionals Is Better for Business

Why Hiring Professionals Is Better for Business

As business owners, we are resourceful people. When we first started our businesses we were likely doing everything ourselves. Sales, accounting, marketing, hr, design where all hats that we once wore. It is understandable to be in all of those roles in the beginning when there is no extra cash and you are truly bootstrapping your new venture. At some point in your entrepreneurial journey, you will want to scale to bring in more clients and more profit and it is impossible if you are still playing every role in your company. When you reach this point it is probably time to look at hiring out roles and jobs. This can be challenging for those who have done the work in the past and think they still can or they do not want to pay the price of hiring professionals. Today we want to tell you three HUGE benefits to hiring the right professionals and how it can help your business grow.

Saves Time & Money

We have all heard the saying time is money. For entrepreneurs this is the truth, time is a finite resource that we can never get back and we have to be careful how we spend ours. When you are not an expert or even well versed in something it takes you longer to do it. Let’s take website design as an example. Anyone can muddle their way through designing a website. You can spend hours and hours until you have something passible and feel like you accomplished something and saved money. In reality, you exchanged your time, which as the owner of your business is EXTREMELY valuable,  to create something that is not going to achieve the results you want.

On the other hand, if you hire out your web design project you bring on an expert who can create something in a shorter amount of time that is going to get you the results you are looking for. When you start to value your time as a fleeting resource you can see how valuable it is to only spend it where you will have the most impact. You can make the money to hire the right professionals, but you cannot recoup time spent on a project that is not in your wheelhouse.

Job is Done Right the First Time

When you take on a project or a role that requires a lot of knowledge such as web design or social media marketing not only do you have to do the project work you also have to teach yourself all the tools that are needed to do the work. This leaves a lot of room for error and for many people they have to do the same project multiple times until it is correct. The beauty of hiring a professional is that they know the tools of their trade and they will get it right the first time. They are not going to need a month to learn how to use their tools, they can hit the ground running, complete your job and do it right.

Allows You to Focus on Your Strengths

You likely started your business to provide a specific product or service that you are passionate about. This passion is your zone of genius, your strength and where you excel. It is also the area that brings profit into your business and for some of you the only area you cannot outsource. Successful business owners work in their zone of genius and hire out the other things that are outside of that zone. If you are spending countless hours working on your website, creating social media posts or writing content it takes you out of the revenue generating activities that only you can do.

It can be stressful to hire a team of professionals to help you, but if you are looking for growth and more profit it is necessary. When you find the right people they will care about your business and work hard to get you to the next level with you as the leader. You are the CEO of your business and your role is to be the visionary and steer the ship, hire the right people and you will get to your destination even faster!

From my “Fave” Chair to yours!

From my “Fave” Chair to yours!

From my “Fave” Chair to yours!

With a favorite beverage, let us take a moment in our favorite chair.   A little silly? I don’t know about you but, my favorite chair is a little worn out, with a few stains, but, its cozy.

It’s a warm afternoon, sun streaming in the windows.  I love my house, its perfect for us. Mike & I moved in seven years ago.  On the golf course with a view from my chair! Love it! Its from this place that I have had many long conversations with myself, my husband, family and friends. It’s from this favorite place that I have contemplated the four walls that surround me.  Do you do that? Sit & look around at the pictures on the wall, the window treatments, the paint color? It’s from this chair I watch that HGTV show or take in some of those amazing series on Prime or Netflix. It’s a happy place, cozy, and safe. Our to do list exists and we get to it when time & money permit.  Someday, all this may not be true & it will be time to make a change.

I have been a Realtor for some twenty-two years. Moving some 14 times from one state to another.  Yikes, I do not want to move again. A career hazard for me to keep looking and comparing my home to others. Every once in a while, I get the itch to move again until my husband reigns me in.  I believe, we are pretty ordinary here in our home. It usually takes an entertaining event to get us to get seriously into picking things up, cleaning & getting organized. Adventure may overtake this conversation some day and we like some of my clients may consider a move to Spain, Mexico, Arizona, Eastern Washington or the sunny Sequim.  Opportunities are out there for a Lifestyle that just might be exciting, I think. How about you, do you have adventures left un realized?

How often do you take time to contemplate the four walls you occupy?  As part of my work I tour many homes and see many lifestyles. From the most amazing homes to some of the saddest, I have sort of seen it all.   Often, I hear from people “I bet you have seen all kinds of homes & situations over the years” I say, yes its true. I love Real Estate and the opportunity to work with all this diversity.

This year I started a new focus on “Lifestyles to Live” with the energy that I believe is needed to help clients focus on the elements of their home that brings them financial wealth, security, comfort, and much joy & satisfaction.  When we take time to consider how our current home serves us, we could ask the following:

Do these four walls? Give me Joy! Happiness in my favorite chair?

Is it the home I dreamed of? Is it Safe?

Its good to take time to contemplate the answers and a helpful to find others to talk to about what is on your mind.

My question from my chair is … what I want the 3rd & 4th quarters of my life to look like.  What do I want my money to be spent on?   Is there an adventure to take? I’m excited to join in the ‘Fave lifestyles” vision and have conversations with others about how to play out this phase of life. There are some great opportunities for us to share, collaborate, and grow in.  Be proactive I say! Bring your questions, share that time with me.

From my chair to yours!

5 EASY STEPS TO AMPLIFY YOUR MESSAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Learn 5 simple things you can do to boost your social media presence in your marketing strategy.

Conversations with parents

Conversations with parents

Conversations with parents

It was some time in the summer of 2013 that I sat at the kitchen table with a family wanting to list their home for sale with me.  I have been a Realtor since 1997 and this day in 2013 changed the direction of my career. Since that day I have been on a mission to understand and serve clients who are in the over 55 age group.  I started by my research and study by going to the Realtors Association and taking a class that earned me the credentials of an “SRES” Senior Real Estate Specialist.

What was going on that day in 2013?  I was invited to a “List my Home” consultation with a family who had occupied their home for some 30 years, it was a beautiful, the kind you walk into & walls tell you “love has been shared here”.  The wife did most of the talking with her husband & her son by her side. She did not want to move or make any changes; this was the lifelong home. I often hear that statement, “we plan to stay here tell we die” Statistics, tell us that about 30% of us actually get that opportunity. Sad but, true.  To move was not in their plans, but it was time. Her husband who was a very successful business owner, community minded, wonderful husband, father and grandfather was now being challenged to remember where he was some days. I don’t know exactly was his medical diagnosis was but, he was not the person in charge like his family knew him.   His wife & son wanted me to keep him in the loop of all paperwork & include him in all conversations. Their respect for him was obvious. Legally they had the Power of Attorney to sign and act on his behalf but, as long as he could sign, that is what we were going to do. It took patience on all our parts to walk him through the process and some days when I would visit their home, he wondered why I was there.

Have you had this experience with family or friends or in your own household? The Moment where everything changes and because of it everything else needs to change.  Moving from the family home, medical care, new location for wife and separate for husband. Thankfully, in this case all the family members were chipping in & help surrounded Mom & Dad.  I’m sure we all know, all too well, that this is not always the case.

Since 2013 I have visited most all the Senior living communities in the Puget Sound Region, developed relationships with care givers, move managers, contractors, senior centers, Elder Law Attorneys, Financial advisors.  Creating a trusted group of recourses to help clients in this 3rd and 4th quarter of life.   It continues to be the direction as a Managing Broker working at EXp Realty, I see myself as a Life Style consultant who brings value to the conversations about when to sell and where to go and what are the options.  I know from experience that when we can have positive and open conversations with our parents, our spouse & our family & friends, the outcome is more satisfying for all. If you would like some tips on what to say or ask and how to get the conversation with parents going, reach out to me.  I will send you a booklet called “The Conversation Starter Kit” or you can go to https://theconversationproject.org/starter-kits/

There are many forms of Dementia and according to one of the Senior Care providers I met with to tour an Alzheimer care community, the multitude of diagnosis continues. From my own personal experience, my mother in-law, my father, & several friends needed our loving guidance while they struggled with the difficulty’s life presented them with. My heart goes out to anyone experiencing health changes in their lives.  I see my job as being the one to show up, offer calm support, have conversations about what is next with the family home & where are the resources needed to make the changes to be safe & secure & live out a lifestyle that is filled with love, respect, and joy!
