In Real Estate, it is essential to have a solid list of Resources for Clients. Today as I’m reviewing my week, I have a couple of stories to tell you.

When I arrive at a Seller home, sometimes I encounter panic and distress about how to get the house ready for Listing. Please take a deep breath, I might say. We got this. Then the client starts to tell me the list of issues, and if I’m able to provide solutions for the list of concerns, then we can create a successful relationship regarding the Sale of the home.

Recently, a new listing I was working on required more setup time. The Seller needed a full house cleaning service for flooring & carpets and every other surface. Premier Services (call Todd 1-425-599-9670) came for a two-day cleaning project & did a great/reasonably priced carpet cleaning. Several years of no cleaning by the owner returned to look like “NEW.”

Next, staging the house by Poetically Featured Properties www.206staging.com. Set up was efficient and professional. The crew was on time and went right to work. Amazing transformation.

We called on Modus. They are raising the bar on service and technology as the Real Estate industry sees so many changes. They bring together other services that they coordinate. Zing Fix Founded by Realtors, who wanted to see that Sellers don’t leave money on the table. Zingfix provides the solutions to help get a home ready to meet the most demanding critics in the Buyer pool. It’s a program where a Seller could. Virtuance sent out the professional photographer. Quick to bring services to help me promote this home in the social media arena. Then there was a stove and microwave to replace, for which I headed off to Lowes to help with that. Also, quick to find me what was needed and get it delivered quickly.

Sellers want to get their homes on the market in the right way to take advantage of higher prices. However, planning is needed; that’s why I suggest we get started early with the conversations that lead to capturing the highest & best value for your home. In Today’s market, we have only about one months worth of inventory for buyers to select from. At the same time, Buyers want to take advantage of the current low-interest rates.

Many moving parts for Sellers to take advantage of this Sellers Market. This Seller’s market is expected to last into the Spring of next year.

Let’s start that conversation today. I’m available to help guide you by preparing your home for Sale with the partners I have at my fingertips; we can make it a fun & successful journey.

Call Today! We can start when it works for you. Teresa Barthol, Lifestyles to Live Exp Realty. I promise to connect the dots to make the process of selling or buying your home much easier.

When My Dad Died

When my Dad died, I wanted to know everything about where he went. I read a book about Heaven. I kept my Dad’s work nametag on the family room mantle for one year, and then I put it in the dining room cabinet drawer. I talk to my Dad often, and I always hear, “Go for It! You Go, Girl! I Am So Proud of You!”

When I Resigned My Church Job Because God Said I Could

When I resigned from my church job, I asked God to show me and lead me into helpful healing modalities. Personally, I think the reason we go to church or the doctor or natural practitioners or any other self-help group is for healing and transformation.

Still wanting to know more about where my Dad is and wanting to know about my own healing and transformation from this life to the next, I began to listen to stories of near-death experiences and past life regressions. I am listening to a book now about spiritual life between lives. Fascinating!

I Agree With Robert

New Generation of Efficient Lighting

New Generation of Efficient Lighting

Fave Lifestyles

You’re not alone if you feel overwhelmed when shopping for energy efficient light bulbs. The choices are immense, it’s hard to stop thinking in terms of watts, and it can be tough to find the color and quality of light that you like. As you re-light your home with more efficient bulbs, keep these five things in mind:

1. Energy and cost

Though the upfront cost for LEDs (light emitting diodes) is higher than for old incandescent bulbs, the payback comes through longer life and lower energy costs. LEDs with the ENERGY STAR® label use at least 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than a 60W incandescent bulb. With operating costs of an LED at about $1.00 a year, switching to such bulbs can slash your electricity costs.

Calculate your potential savings at bit.ly/bulb-calc.

2. Styles

LEDs come in various shapes and sizes and can replace decorative lights, halogens, recessed fixtures, and tube bulbs. In addition, there are dimmable options.

Learn more at focusonbulbs.com.

3. Lumens in, watts out

LEDs are measured in lumens — the amount of light a bulb puts out — not in watts. Read product labels to pick bulbs with the lumens that fit your needs.

For example:

  • Replace a 40-watt incandescent with a CFL or LED bulb that provides 450 lumens.
  • Replace a 75-watt incandescent bulb with a CFL or LED bulb that provides 1,100 lumens.

4. Light color

Light color is measured on a temperature scale called Kelvin (K). Lower Kelvin numbers provide warmer yellow light and higher ones are associated with cool, bluer or whiter lights.

Choose:

  • 2200K to 3000K for soft or warm light that is similar to incandescent bulbs.
  • 3500K to 4100K for neutral or cool white, appropriate for kitchens and work spaces.
  • 5000K to 6500K for the look of daylight that works well for reading.

5. Color Rendering Index

The Color Rendering Index (CRI) is a scale that ranges from 0 to 100 and indicates how the color of objects and skin will look under a given bulb. Bulbs with a higher CRI help things look closest to their true
colors.

Fall Anxiety is a Real Thing

Fall Anxiety is a Real Thing

Fall Anxiety is a Real Thing

If Fall is Not Your Favorite Season You May Be Suffering From “Autumn Anxiety”

Yes, this is a real thing my friend. I’m so relieved have recently discovered the name for it because I’ve experienced autumn anxiety and a mild depression every fall since I was a small child.

While everyone else is raving about the leaves changing colors and looking forward to getting cozy in a sweater, I feel a mild to moderate sense of dread enveloping me that I can’t quite explain.

Yes, I enjoy pumpkin spice lattes, actually, I love them. The leaves are beautiful, I totally agree. My birthday is in September so that’s fun and I really have nothing against sweaters.

I still don’t look forward to Fall and autumn anxiety + depression is why. Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so, we might be Autumn Anxiety buddies.

So, what is it?! What’s ‘Autumn Anxiety’? And where does it come from?

The term was coined by Welsh therapist Ginny Scully in 2005 when she noticed that her clients were experiencing a very similar cluster of symptoms (as was Ginny Scully herself) at the turn of the season from summer to fall.

Autumn anxiety is feeling anxious or dreading the change that happens in autumn every year. This is what you might experience:

  • Feeling like you’re in a state of flux
  • Anticipatory anxiety about the activities and transitions over the coming 3-4 months
  • Increased worry and fear
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Insomnia
  • Feeling emotionally numb
  • Digestive issues
  • Headaches
  • Irritability

Of course, this list is not exhaustive, and see your health care provider if you are worried about your symptoms.

Where does this come from? Why is it happening in Autumn?

Two reasons: the change in the amount of sun we get in the northern hemisphere + our cultural activity shifts

Reason One: Decreased sun in the northern hemisphere

We all know that Fall means shorter days, dropping temperatures, and a transition into winter. This has to do with our seasonal rotation around the sun and getting less sunlight in the northern hemisphere in Fall and Winter.

Our bodies can respond to these things with anxiety and depression-like symptoms. The reason is that less sunlight means less vitamin D, less time outside walking or in nature, and less mood boosting brain chemicals like serotonin and dopamine.

Some people are especially sensitive to these changes in the environment and inside their own bodies that Autumn Anxiety can pack a special punch – we’re called Empaths and Highly Sensitive People.

Empaths and Highly Sensitives have highly tuned brains and nervous systems that are like the finest instruments in a weather station. We can tell you exactly which way the wind is blowing and how many miles an hour it’s going. (If you’re not sure if you’re Highly Sensitive take the quiz here)

There’s nothing wrong with being an Empath, Highly Sensitive, or dealing with Autumn Anxiety; it’s simply good to have a name for it so you can treat yourself with dignity and care going forward.

Here are some ideas for dealing with Autumn Anxiety that boost serotonin and dopamine:

  • Use a ‘happy light’
  • Continue to get outside as much as you can
  • Ask for a massage
  • Exercise
  • making sure you eat enough protein (particularly sources of tryptophan like turkey and salmon)

*before supplementing your diet or exercising always check with your doctor first

Reason Two: Fall Cultural Activity Shifts

Summer is over and the unstructured sunny days have become a thing of the past. I mourn the loss of summer every year, for real. I thrive on sunshine and freedom so when I have to say goodbye, I’m a bit morose.

Fall can feel like it comes in with a vengeance. It’s a time when structure hits us all at once and from many angles in our society. This can be a bit much especially for those who are Empaths and Highly Sensitive People like me. We prefer to inch into change rather than the onslaught of change that Fall brings with it.

What do I mean by structure hitting us all at once?

Well, school starts in the fall for one and school means getting to bed early and getting up early. As a parent it also means managing my children’s transition back to school as well as my own schedule adjustment which added to the mix. Plus, having three kids with supplies to buy, new teachers to meet, all those papers to sign, and it was a bear.

This year going back to school has been a huge deal for families. There has been lots of confusion about what’s best, what each school district is offering, and getting everyone prepared. Making decisions when you’re also dealing with Autumn Anxiety can add fuel to the stress flames. If you experienced that a couple of weeks ago, give yourself a big hug from me. You are also now dealing with whatever school situation your children are in and for some folks it’s very stressful right now.

Hang in there mama and use the strategies I’m sharing here to support yourself through this time. I’m using them too, you’re not alone. Let’s do it together.

Additionally, business tends to get back into a more structured cadence in September/October as well. As a small business owner, I am also shifting my schedule to meet my clients at new times and offering different kinds of programs. This isn’t a bad thing, just a shift.

As the type of person who likes a plan, in the fall I begin to sketch out my holiday general plan. What are we doing for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas?

At this time of year, we tend to get ‘heads down’ into tasks on our computers. Especially during the pandemic, we find ourselves being busy with our technology trying to get everything done.

Ideas for dealing with Autumn Anxiety that reduces emotional overwhelm and mental stress:

  • Use meditation and prayer on a daily basis
  • Plan with your kids and their other parent (if possible) how to manage school routines in as low stress away as possible
  • Outline your holiday plan but tackle the specifics one holiday at a time so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Or, maybe this year, do really low-stress holidays since it’s COVID and all.
  • Celebrate small victories – you’ll get a hit of feel-good brain chemicals when you do
  • Don’t volunteer with charitable organizations or with your kids’ school if you’re dealing with Autumn Anxiety; wait until winter or spring
  • Plan some digital detox time; be away from your phone and your computer even if it’s only an hour on Sunday

Use your situation to imagine what would feel really amazing and go do that for yourself! It’s not indulgent, it’s nurturing your nervous system and caring for your Autumn Anxiety.

When we add it up I see how the shift in the environment and the shift in the schedules and activity patterns make for a perfect storm, don’t they? Autumn anxiety makes so much sense!

Do you think you suffer from Autumn Anxiety? What tips have you found most useful?

Kicking Self-Doubt To The Curb

Kicking Self-Doubt To The Curb

Fave Lifestyles

Limiting beliefs and self-doubt are nasty lies that we tell ourselves and that plague us all at times. They are beliefs that can hold us back from accomplishing our life’s dreams and desires. They can zap the happiness and joy out of our lives. They can keep us from discovering our most unique and empowered self. They are lies that we have allowed to become internalized along the way and that has become truths. They are lies that we allowed becoming part of us, like an old ugly blanket that we think keeps us safe and comfortable but just really needs to be tossed out! It is important to have a strategy for kicking them to the curb! Read on to discover my 10-minute a day game-changing strategy for eliminating limiting beliefs and self-doubt from your life for good.

First, let’s get specific about what limiting beliefs and self-doubt look like. Here are just a few of the erroneous things we tell ourselves when we are suffering from limiting beliefs and self-doubt.

“I am not good enough. It is too hard for me. That is for other people, not me. I will fail. I am not smart enough. People don’t like me. I am unlovable. I always make the wrong decision. I won’t be able to figure it out. I will let people down. I won’t be able to finish it. I am not capable. Bad things just happen to me. People will ridicule me.” Feelings of self-doubt make us feel powerless, uninspired, pessimistic, unable to stand up for ourselves, unworthy, have anxiety, feel sad, feel manipulated. Feel frustrated and so much more.

If you struggle with these and other negative thoughts and beliefs it can be difficult to know how to get out of your present mind-set and it can actually become such a normal outlook that you are not aware of the damage it does to your life. I have some specific strategies for overcoming them and kicking them to the curb for good!

First, is a daily exercise that I have my clients do that is a game-changer. It involves spending just 10 minutes a day and it will remarkably change your perspective! You will start by making two specific lists and adding to them every day for a week.

Your first list will be all of your accomplishments. Take just 5 minutes to list as many of your accomplishments that you can think of, big and small. Here is an example of what you might have on your list:

My Accomplishments

My children. My beautiful home. My career. My friends and loved ones. I am a fabulous cook. I am a great decorator. I am a gifted artist. I am a good gardener. I have worked hard at a healthy lifestyle. My college degrees. My marriage. My weight loss or weight gain. I am great with money. I save and invest. I overcame debt, and on and on…

Your second list will be of all of the things you like about yourself: Here are a few to get you started.

Kicking Self-Doubt To The Curb

What I like about myself

My sense of humor. My intellect. My hair, My figure. My smile. My loyalty to friends and loved ones. My fierce instinct and my ability to follow it. My patience. My unique personality. My good fashion sense. My discipline. My sweet disposition, and on and on…

So, every day for a week you will take just 5 minutes to add to each of your lists,10 minutes total. This helps you to DIG DEEP into what you have accomplished in your life and what you like about yourself.

As you reflect for a few minutes each day, your self-worth will begin to grow and you will feel a shift in your perspective and start to see more of what makes you amazing and unique!

By the end of the week, you will begin to feel more confident and assertive, and optimistic about your life. You will find yourself motivated and empowered to do the things that are important to you and stand up for yourself more readily. You will find it easier to make decisions. You will find yourself feeling greater self-love and the dreams and desires that you have been keeping on the back burner will start to come to the forefront and seem attainable!

Bonus exercise: Write down five of your accomplishments and five of the things you like about yourself on sticky notes and put them around your house where you will see them every day!

Overcoming self-doubt is just one of the areas I help women to conquer. If you struggle with that or challenges such as negative self-talk, finding your personal power, or overcoming fears, I invite you to reach out to me at visionpowercoaching@gmail.com to learn how to work with me to realize your dreams and desires.
