Please mentally prepare your luggage of everything that you may need…as we virtually fly into Nice, France and arrive at your destination.

Welcome aboard British Airways, thank you for flying with us today. Please sit back and relax with a glass of French champagne and some Biscoff cookies! Nap and relax, watch a movie or listen to some music. Also don’t forget to view the map showing our flight route to Nice, France as time progresses.

Bonjour and welcome to Nice, please depart and enjoy your stay. As you arrive in the baggage claim, there is a man with a sign with your name on it.  His name is Francois and he loads your bags in the Mercedes Benz. His English is somewhat broken, hey but so it your French! You both laugh as you chat along the drive on the Riviera at night…oh the lights on the water! He drives you to your final destination Cannes, France. You have seen pictures of it, you have seen movies of it…still your eyes cannot believe how lovely it is. Francois pulls up to the door of InterContinental Carlton Cannes (five-star resort). You are welcomed in and taken to your room. On your way to your room, you notice that there are suites named after famous movie stars, Robin Williams, Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock among many others. Your suite has the most amazing view and the bed is huge!  You are tired from your long journey, so you prepare for bed and out like the light you are fast asleep.

The next morning, you awake refreshed and are famished! Prior to heading to breakfast, you head to the shower and in the bath room you find little L’Occitane toiletries. They smell divine, you look and notice the “La Collection De Grasse” on it. Coco Chanel created her iconic Chanel #5 fragrance with the help of Ernest Beaux who had worked for the Russian royal family and lived close by in Grasse, the center of the perfume industry in 1920. Molinard Perfume Factory is one of the oldest, dating back to 1849, you already have a VIP Perfume trip scheduled later this week. You smile as you know that you are on the right track to creating a memorable vacation. Now you are very hungry, you get dressed in your best and head to the breakfast buffet. As you enter the restaurant, you are shown the buffet that never ends and asked if you want to dine in or outside…of course you pick outside! As you fill your plate with all sorts of goodies you sit and look out at the water. The people walking past in front of the hotel…take pictures and stare at you to see if you are someone famous. As this is not an inexpensive place, this is where the famous stay during Cannes Film Festival and also vacation during the year. Hey who knows who slept in your bed before you? It could have been Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig or insert your favorite film star here.   It is your virtual vacation!

After your breakfast, you decide to take a walk on the Boulevard de la Croisette where you will walk past Hermes, Chanel and many others so fabulous that you want to walk into each one, however then ocean beach calls you too! Which do you choose? The beaches along the French Riviera are so rocky except Cannes, where they actually have sand delivered. The hotel resort has its own beach and lifeguard as well as a restaurant and bar, with showers, lockers and private changing rooms. After a short walk you decide to go to spend the day at the beach as the sun is warm. You take your favorite book or magazine and head to your reserved spot on the beach…with your own umbrella and beach towel. You change into your swimsuit, put on your sunglasses and head to your beach lounger. As you get conformable a waiter comes and asks you what it is that you would like for him to bring you…you order your favorite drink as you are still full with breakfast and it is now past 1pm!

As he delivers your drink, you sink into the lounger and hear the waves that are going back and forth, you breathe deep and exhale! This is just the first day of many…you breathe deep and exhale again! You close your eyes and let your mind relax as your body is now. You are on the French Riviera and there is so much to do…yet not required to be done. You get to decide how you spend your time…it is your virtual vacation. You can come back to reality when you want to.

Welcome back to reality when you are ready…you are now back on a British Airways plane heading back to your city at 650 miles per hour. You can also spend a little more time and search the web for more to see in Cannes and the French Riviera. You can also search for goodies to be delivered to you from Amazon to taste the from Provence.

Souhaitant bon voyage…wishing you safe travels!

2021: New Year Challenge of Legacy not Resolutions

2021: New Year Challenge of Legacy not Resolutions

Fave Lifestyles

In my book, “You are perfectly flawed and rarer than any diamond!”; I wrote a whole chapter titled  “Find your Legacy”.  It is too long of a chapter to share here and I didn’t want to cut the message up either.  If you want to dig deeper into this topic, please check out my book.

I want to challenge you to think about your legacy versus a new year’s resolution.  I want to spin it on the things that surround you and your environment.    As what you surround yourself with and adorn yourself with are a reflection of your self-image.   Below is a quote that I have always loved especially in this topic.

Quote by Martha Stewart “Your home should be a reflection of how you want to live right now, and for the next phase of your life.”

If 2020 taught us anything, a key takeaway is to live simpler and appreciate our loved ones even more!  I ask you to look at your home, the things that you share your space with.  Do they really reflect the next phase of your life?   If not, it is time to make some changes.  Do you have things that you have kept because you inherited it and feel duty bound to keep it?  Or do you have things that are just hard to get rid of because of the emotion attached to the item/s?

As I write this, I have been going through and removing things that I no longer see as a fit in my next phase. One in particular has been a hard one for me: My black leather briefcase that I started my financial world with back in 1990, when I started in banking. I carried it for years, it held important documents and it was also a status symbol too back in the day. Think of me in a power suit and sneakers much like Tess in the 1988 movie -Working Girl with my beloved briefcase!

I was going through my closet and there it was tucked back in the back on my top shelf. I cleared many items from the top shelf fairly quickly and released them to the wild…the thrift store! However, this one item, for a little longer tied to my identity apparently held on for dear life!  It was as if I let this one item go… the one item that had played such an important support role to my career… I might not be her anymore.

I had to let it simmer a little more… I am not her anymore! I hadn’t carried it in almost 25 years! Why am I having such a hard time letting it go? I hadn’t even opened it up, yet! Truth be told, I was trying to remember the 3-digit code for the double tumbler locks! So secure…what treasures could still be in it? What notes or treasures could be found inside?  I struggled with it, and finally I put in the magic code. The left lock sprang open…I did the same on the right side and it was stuck. It did not open!  Seriously, okay Universe/God what trick is this? I walked away for a few minutes as I recalled the last time; I had carried it was not the best time in my life personally. Maybe there was something in there that might cause me pain. Thankfully I had forgiven and forgotten some difficult stuff from my past.

2021: New Year Challenge of Legacy not Resolutions

I left the briefcase sit on the top of my dresser for several days. Every time I went into my closet; I looked at it and waited for the right time. Early in the morning, when I was alone. I sat on my closet floor with my beloved briefcase in one hand and a flathead screwdriver in the other hand! I was going to break into it at all costs… the leather was worn and the handle was too worn to donate in the end. If I had to break it open it wouldn’t really be that much more damaged… to anyone else it was trash already!

I tried the right lock, with the 3-digit code again as I had several days ago… it sprang open!  Inside of my briefcase were pens still in their pen slots and several pieces of paper with my handwritten notes on them. Nothing of value except it was a list of pros/cons of a very difficult decision in my life. I read the lists and remembered the time very clear as if I was right there making the list 25 years ago! I still make lists of pros/cons when a decision has to be made.

I have now shredded the lists, thrown out the pens and trashed my briefcase after taking a picture of it. (see picture at the top of article). It was a pivotable piece in my life and career. It is no longer needed in my next phase of my life. Especially in the digital age, whereas most documents are sent electronically. I am no longer that shy young lady hiding behind her briefcase and power suit aspiring to prove my worth and credentials in my field! If you know me, it is hard to imagine I once was very timid and shy. Now I am that fearless woman… taking on the Wallstreet Bull as I know my worth and I don’t back down!

So… What do you have in your surroundings that no longer serve the next phase of your life or your legacy?

Challenge accepted? You decide.

2020 The Year of Miracles

2020 The Year of Miracles

Fave Lifestyles

2020: The Year of Miracles!?!  “Does not compute” right?

Every year since 2015, I have named an annual theme or goal.  After 2019, which I am many others had deemed it a rough year.  I had decided that 2020 was my year of miracles.  In December 2019, I had gone to a pottery place to paint a commemorative piece to mark my belief of affirmation.

It was the year I was going to publish my book, have my book become a best seller on Amazon, accomplish huge goals in my business to earn a 5 Star trip.  My last trip was 10 days at The Ritz Carlton in Cannes, France at my companies’ expense – Air and Hotel.  By the way, that is where “To Catch a Thief” was filmed.  One of my favorite films as I adore Grace Kelly.  Each one of those were huge goals and I needed a miracle to accomplish them!

Fast forward, as we all know 2020 provided its own challenges on top of my already huge goals!  I thought to myself -crap!  What was I thinking dreaming that big!  Now as I write this article in October 2020, I am astounded with myself and upset with myself!  I didn’t dream BIG ENOUGH!!!  Let me explain.

GOALS:

  1. Publish Book -DONE- Book Live on Amazon 5/18/2020, website completed, and paperback books delivered to me prior to that date.
  2. Best Seller on Amazon -DONE- Book #3 on Amazon in the Self-Esteem Self-Help Category 10/5/2020
  3. Earned 5 Star Trip- DONE- 9/23/2020.

Here is the thing, I truly did not dream big enough.  As aside from those achieving those goals, I had lots of outside noise trying to derail my goals/dreams.

My mother on Mother’s Day (5/10/2020) of all days, literally shattered her left leg.  Long story but falling from a step ladder on her titanium knee cap with all her weight is not a good idea!  She is in her mid-70’s and her bones were just crushed from right below her hip all the way to and including her ankle!  She had to have three surgeries over two months as the swelling was too bad to attempt it.  The first surgery was to put in an external skeleton on her left leg to keep the placement of the nerves and ligaments while the surgeon made an internal leg “bones of metal, etc.”.

2020 The Year of Miracles
*paid advertising

The crazy part was do to Covid-19, she couldn’t stay in the hospital or go to a rehab facility due to her other health issues. So that meant that she came to live with my husband and I.  In our living room, I cared for my mother as my Dad could not due to health issues too. I became her full-time nurse (while working full-time too), making sure that she took her meds on time, cleaned her wounds etc. As she couldn’t put her weight on her left leg until the surgeon would let her. Finally, 8/26/2020, she got permission to start gradually putting weight on it. At the time of writing this article, she cannot walk without a walker and cannot walk longer than 10 steps.

She said to me, a week ago, “honey, I am just waiting on a miracle”. I told her that “you have had several miracles. It may not be the big one of walking like you did before your accident. You still have your leg and it is starting to work again”. She was lucking to still have her leg…she almost lost it due to inflections due to the high swelling and having to wait for the swelling to go do to operate on it.

Did I achieve all my goals that I had set?     Heck Yeah!

Was it easy?  Heck NO! Was it worth it?      Heck Yeah!

Did I achieve them in uncertain times – Covid-19?    Heck Yeah!

Did I achieve even more than I thought I humanly could do -full-time caregiver of my mom while working full-time while achieving my goals?     Heck Yeah!

Remember that YOU are amazing and can do more than You ever thought You could. The limiting beliefs come from your brain trying to figure out “the how” to your goals/dreams. Believing in your goals/dreams will align many miracles to help you achieve your goals/dreams.

Miracles are everywhere…they may not always be the huge one that you want or think you deserve. It may be lots of little ones that add up.

Every day is a miracle!

You are a miracle!

Don’t ever forget that!

You are Relentless

You are Relentless

Fave Lifestyles

The Free Dictionary has a compelling definition of the word relentless. It means, “firmly, often unreasonably immovable in purpose or will or existing or occurring without interruption or end.” You are relentless. Almost everything in this book up until now has been centered on some of the challenges you may have gone through or may go through in the future and how to cope and live a happy life in spite of them. Now, to say that “you are relentless” means to keep moving forward with every bit of energy that you have.

A ninety-nine-year-old gal who I worked with once told me, “Tiffany, I’m tired, I’m ready to die.” You probably think that given her age, it’s not entirely unreasonable to feel that way, and it isn’t. I said to her, “You know honey, I understand. However, at the same time, it’s not your choice to decide whether it’s time for you to die, it’s God’s choice. Since you are still here you have more work to do; you still have a purpose. You might not know what that purpose is right now; you might not know what it might mean for other people to still have you here on this Earth. There’s more for you to do, and I want you to keep living every day that you can, and I want you to live life relentlessly.” She recently passed away at a hundred and one; she was a lovely lady, and she stayed lovely until the day she died. She had two more years of life to live after we had that conversation. You must understand that when your life ends is about God’s timing not about how you feel.

Just like somebody hurt you in the past, every action and inaction that we take has a ripple effect on the people around us; you need to think about the collateral damage. You may be tired of fighting; you may be tired of struggling through whatever battle you’re in whether it be cancer or depression or insecurities. It could be the struggle of autism or dyslexia or bipolar disorder, or just being misunderstood by the people around you and the stigma that labels bring. But during all this, you must remember God doesn’t make mistakes. There are people around you that still need you to continue your fight. You might not have even met these people yet but the fact is that God doesn’t make any mistakes. God didn’t put you on this Earth to suffer and doesn’t allow you to go through hardships that you can’t handle or bear. You are stronger than you think, so for the sake of the people that need you and the people in the future that will need you, you have to fight relentlessly, no matter what!

However, if you feel lost and need help there are people around you who can help you with what you’re going through. It may not be the people that are immediately around you, because the people you are surrounded by could very well be the problem, but people who can help you are out there.

I’ll tell you about an experience I had when I was in high school. I’ve always been a plus-sized gal; I wasn’t as plus-sized as I am now, but, back then, it wasn’t as common to see people who are overweight as it is nowadays. Back in high school, I think I wore about a size fourteen, I was big. I was well under 200 pounds, but since I was just a little over five feet tall it was a lot of weight on my frame. I’ve always been told, “But you have such a pretty face,” by my family and friends. Part of me knows they mean that to be a compliment, but for another part of me, it also implies other things.

So, in high school, when it came time for nominating the homecoming court, most of the school voted for me to be homecoming queen as a joke. I knew it was supposed to be ironic because they also nominated the boy in the school that everybody teased because he always had greasy hair and was a loner, as homecoming king. As you might be able to imagine, it was hurtful and humiliating. Thankfully, I had some friendly teachers in the school. They made sure that my nomination was removed and, naturally, a gorgeous girl in the class was voted for. Still, the situation ended up being quite the joke, I was quite the jest. I continued to have to spend my days with the people that did this to me, every day. Back then, bullying was commonly discussed like it is now, but was not appropriately handled. I even got bullied by quite a few teachers in high school. The words that they used against me were not great.

You are Relentless
*paid advertising

However, deep within me, I was relentless. I was immovable in my will, and in my purpose, I was firmly planted. Did being bullied make me sad? Of course. I was being bullied by people who were around me all the time, and that could very well be the case for you as well.

When you’re in situations like that, you need to find the people that truly love you, care for you, and support you; it doesn’t matter how many there are. The truth is that they’re out there, though sometimes they’re hard to find. Whether you are being bullied in person or being cyber-bullied, there is help. Maybe you’re dealing with drugs or alcohol or some other affliction and you feel like you need help. There are support groups that can help. If you’re severely depressed, please talk to somebody, ask for help.

When you’re going through tough times, when you feel like it’s just you, when you feel like you’re alone, remember that you are not alone in this world. You are not alone unless you choose to be! The truth is, there are so many people whose lives we touch in ways we don’t even know.

Find your support, find your tribe, and find your relentlessness. Relentlessness is the ability to keep fighting and keep improving our human condition no matter what life throws at us. I believe that every single person is capable of being relentless, including you. You just have to find it within yourself.

I love the word ‘relentless.’ A lot of people think its negative, but it’s not. It is so powerful. Imagine yourself as a warrior; an unwavering being that cannot be swayed by hardship; a person that falls, but gets back up stronger and more confident; a person with an unmeasurable will to keep fighting their battles, coming out on the other side a stronger person. I believe that that person is within you; I believe that person is you.

Think about your diamond. When a diamond is faceted, the parts that are cut off become diamond dust, exceptionally fine dust that sparkles as the light hits it.

Those parts were cut off you and turned into dust for a reason. Go out and gaze at the night sky, at the beautiful stars up there. There are billions of stars out there. If you need to jump into your car and head out of the city limits to see them, do it! Stars are everywhere, scattered beautifully across the sky. Now, imagine your diamond dust having been carried by air into the sky to be those stars. See all the lights? The sky would not be complete without them, just as you would not be complete without them. You are perfectly flawed and rarer than any diamond!

Find Your Joy

Find Your Joy

Fave Lifestyles

Imagine if you woke up every morning filled with joy, the kind of joy that you had as a child. Remember when you were younger, and you knew you could do anything?!? You were afraid of nothing. When did you lose that? Whenever it happened, I want you to forgive whoever or whatever stole your JOY! You have harbored resentment inside you for too long.

When you harbor an enemy in your heart, the hate or anger you have towards them damages you more than you know. The negative feelings also block you from what you are meant to achieve in your life. You have a mission that only you can do. If you die before you do it…it dies with you. Think about that for a moment. Really let that sink in.

People always want to know why I’m so full of joy; they think my life is and has been free from problems and traumas. The thing is, I choose joy because life is way too short. I’ve experienced eight of my nine lives. I joke, but seriously, I shouldn’t even be in this world anymore. For me, joy is not just a state of mind, it’s also a brand. I look at JOY as Jesus first, Others second and myself (Yourself) last. This keeps integrity in my heart, and there is never a question of why I do what I do.

The joy that I’m talking about here is the joy I want you to find. This joy comes from living every second that we are gifted in being fully present in every moment.

There’s a lesson I saw online a while back. It basically talked about how we are all allotted the same number of hours, minutes, and seconds every day. The problem is that a lot of us squander this most precious commodity – time. This problem is especially prevalent in our day and age, with the various technologies that we have at our disposal, technologies that give us instant gratification and distract us from focusing on a purpose. We are more prone to waste our days away on social media platforms, games, or even just regularly sleeping until noon. We waste time at work shopping or surfing the internet instead of doing work because these things are so captivating. They have influence and a strong pull. We end up not fully using the time we are given, instead it is squandered. It is empirical that we fully grasp the importance of living life and not just going through the motions.

Consider the fact that all of us have the same number of seconds in a day, but not all of us are promised tomorrow. For me, when I go to bed, I thank God for the day that I’ve had, rough or smooth, and I thank God in advance for the next day. I ask God for the grace to do what I’m supposed to do on this Earth and, for me, that is living life with a purpose and changing the lives of others.

My desire for you is that you find your joy beyond your cell phone and computer screens; go beyond your normal days, make one day not be a clone of the last. Find your joy – that hobby that makes you happy or something that you would pay to do simply for the joy it brings. Find that something that fills you with the sensation of completeness, so much so that you get lost in it and forget your troubles. It could be fishing or photography. It could be music. It could be a dream of yours that you believe in, something that you would love to spend your life doing. It could even be something as simple as a day at the beach, the sunset, or beautiful pictures of nature. Whatever it is that brings you joy.

Find Your Joy
*paid advertising

Your time on this Earth is limited but purposeful. It is short but holds immense potential. We mustn’t get too caught up in the troubles that life brings.

Understandably, a lot of people let certain experiences affect their general outlook on life.

Life comes with good things as well as bad and some of us let the hardship of life drive us to extreme coping mechanisms. Some people turn to drugs, alcohol, food, and other temporary solutions to escape from the world. The keyword in all this though is “temporary.” None of those things offer lasting happiness or bliss. A more efficient way of coping with challenging times, as well as savoring the good times, is finding your joy.

You can even find joy in the littlest of things. If you have ever been in love with someone, you have probably noticed that you found almost everything about that person delightful, right down to the way they bite their nails or the way their eyebrows are a bit arched. That is the outlook on life you should aspire to have, to be in love with every single step of your day from the moment you wake up, to even brushing your teeth with enthusiasm.

The truth of the matter is that we must choose to create our own joy. If you decide that there is nothing in life that is enjoyable, I doubt there are many people or circumstances that can change your mind. True joy comes from within.

Once you find your joy, one of the most important things to do is to learn contentment. Think about everything you have ever wanted, whether big or small. Think of all the outlandish things that your wildest dreams can muster. Do you realize that you will never be genuinely happy with any of those things if you lack contentment? You could gain the entire world and then some, but if you are not content, you will never find peace of mind, happiness, or fulfillment.

What I want for you is to find happiness, and not just joy, but lasting joy. What I want you to do is think about the things that bring you joy. Find your joy and, whatever it is, write it down and paste it somewhere you know you will always see it. This way you can be constantly reminded to keep the joy in your heart.

Fave Lifestyles

Mask, lipstick, jewelry…oh my!

A lot has changed since March 2020…not for the better in my eyes. Most of us are social to a
point some are introverts and some are extroverts. I know a lot of introverts at the beginning
were really happy. Now several months later they are not and I being a total extrovert is having
challenges. If the environment is set…change how you engage with it and others. Always be
the change you want to see in the world and leave it better than you found it,

So just for fun I did a social experiment on a recent grocery store trip. FYI I totally hate grocery
shopping. I am blessed as my husband does all of it except for buying cat food! So that is my
one grocery store task and I know how lucky I am truly!

Alright back to my experiment, I wore the mask, lipstick and full makeup, shoes, handbag and a
lovely black dress…it was not floor length. However, I was very tempted to do so, yet it is a
grocery store floor and decided I didn’t want my gown sweeping their floor for them for free! I
had sewn big red lips on my mask, early one as I didn’t like the fact that none could see my smile
or my lipstick! Those that know me understand that both are completely me. I wanted to see if
anyone would engage in small talk with me. I only needed cat food for my beloved kitty Coco
Chanel. I knew which aisle that was…instead I went up and down every aisle to see if people
would say anything. The very last aisle, I got the cat food. Not to mention my outfit, chandelier
earrings and three strands of pearls!

Not a single person said anything to me…except the cashier. She said “that’s a lot of cat food”.
To which I replied “I hate grocery shopping so I do it all in one trip as there are other things I
would much rather do!” She finally laughed and said “it looks like you are going somewhere
fabulous after here”. “Just home to feed my dear Coco” I replied. She then asked, “why are you
so dressed up to buy cat food?” I replied, “in a world where everything has been cancelled or
postponed to someday, I am not cancelling or postponing me being me and what makes me
happy and neither should you!” Then I waltzed my way out of the store with the sound of my
heels clicking on the floor. No one could see the real huge smile under my mask!

What are you waiting for in this pandemic? Find a way to do the things that make you-YOU!
Wear your lipstick, wear your fine jewelry, wear your heels, do your hair and makeup for you!

As I look around every one, I see looks like they have just given up everything. I overheard a
conversation that made me really sad… said “since I am wearing a mask when I go out, I rarely
brush my teeth anymore and the other said “ME TOO!”

In my book, “You are perfectly flawed and rarer than any diamond!” I wrote a whole chapter
about “Find Your Love”. It was written pre Covid-19. Yet, it still rings true today and even
more so I believe. The love I wrote about is loving yourself first-means taking care of yourself
first! Brushing your teeth, washing and doing your hair, etc. All I see anywhere I look when I
am out is sweats, jammies, and a general -I DON’T GIVE A F**K ATTITUDE TOWARDS
EVERYONE, including themselves! This breaks my heart.

FACTS:

Yes, we are in the midst of a global pandemic!

Yes, we don’t know when life will return to how it was pre-pandemic or if it every will.

Yes, we must keep a respectful distance regardless of how you feel about it.

Yes, we can talk to people at a distance and be safe.

Yes, we need to be kind and give grace to others no matter what.

Yes, we are all on this Earth at the same time for a reason.

Yes, we need to show love to ourselves first, so that we can truly love others.

Yes, there is only one like you and there will never be another “YOU” in the future or the past.

YOU BE YOU, AS ONLY YOU CAN DO!

DON’T WAIT FOR THIS ALL TO BE OVER TO DO YOUR LIFE!

The perfect time never comes…and time flies whether you want it to or not.

When you are comfortable you are not growing, when you are fearful you are not open to
anything but more fear.

You have the power to change how you see the world and how the world sees you. I am sure
that many people smiled when they saw me galivanting down the aisles dressed to the nines! Oh
course, with the masks I will never know…did it make me happy! Oh hell yeah! Maybe they
thought what a crazy lady…yet if I made anyone smile or think about something else. I did my
job being me and hopefully changed their perspective just for a minute or two!
