Finding Encouragement from God

Where Can You Find Encouragement from God?

Today I found myself googling Bible verses about encouragement from God. One site had 20 and
another had 37. I really just wanted one.

There are many things in life that are out of my control. Too often I forget that. I think I’m in control. I’d
like to believe I’ve got it all figured out, but I don’t. Never have; never will.

Kathy Collard Miller, a speaker and author, shared a timely post on her Facebook page: Not once in the
Bible does it say worry about it, stress over it, or figure it out. But over and over again it clearly says
TRUST GOD!

Yep, Bible verse after Bible verse reminds us to trust God:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 ESV

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD,
have not forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:10

We all need encouragement—whether tackling that next set of reps at the gym or that daunting work
assignment, whether regrouping from tragic loss and a terrible misstep. We all need love and support,
because some days do not go well.

But there is Good News! Our ever-faithful God insists on surrounding us with His encourage, His love
and support. It’s that unexpected call from a friend. It’s a knowing smile from across the room. It’s a
quick cup of coffee in the middle of craziness. It’s the promise of His Word.

May the God of hope will you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Romans 15:13

about

Deanna Nowadnick

Before my father died, he reminded me that Mom had asked me to write a book. At the time the boys were in college, and the notion of writing was unfathomable. Writers write books. By the time my boys were adults, I’d run out of excuses. I was also at that age when I could pause and reflect.

Fruit of My Spirit: Reframing Life in God’s Grace was my first publishing endeavor. My second was Signs in Life: Finding Direction in Our Travels with God. Both are collections of stories that tell of God’s love and faithfulness. Both tell of His remarkable grace and mercy.

When not writing, I serve as the Client Service Coordinator for The Planner’s Edge, an investment advisory firm in Washington state. I’m active in my church, serving on the Leadership Team and gathering with a wonderful group of ladies to study and giggle over lattes and chocolate. On my desk is a rock with the words “Choose Joy!” etched in it. It’s my inspiration for each day. As an author, it is my hope that my own words might share that joy we find together as children of God.

With Him, it can be so.
