My husband & I have had a plan to visit a new Green Built development for some time & yesterday was the day.  Years ago, we built an energy conscious designed home in Minnesota.  My husband Michael is an Architect, and it was his dream to design & build this home, and so we did.   Our experience Building that home was prior to me starting my Real Estate career and before we moved to the Northwest for Michaels work.  A terrific experience and a home that was difficult to leave. Opportunity and the Northwest captured our future, and here we are some 30+ years later.

Selah Vista homes is a 16 -acre Built Green 5-Star Planned Neighborhood Development in the Yakima, WA area.  A total of 60 homes at completion, many of them with expansive territorial views.  A combination of home styles to include single family, cottages, duplex townhomes, and custom homes.  A 2-acre community space including wheelchair accessible perimeter nature trails, natural playground, drought-tolerant native plantings, and other healthy features and amenities.

The excitement we had for the project relates to a lifestyle we love to live! One where the features of the home are luxurious, healthy indoor air and water, lots of natural sunlight, solar power system, Smart Home technology, constructed with low maintenance materials, and the use of reclaimed and recycled green products.

The homes certifications include Built Green 5 Star Standards, EPA Net Zero Standards, EPA Air Plus.

Personally, as a Realtor I want to move everyone into homes like we toured in Selah, WA.  Why?

A Healthy Lifestyle choice for one!  From the air, you breathe to the water you drink, floors you stand on, appliances you use, and the roof overhead   it’s crucial what surrounds our lives every day.  I believe our homes should serve our desired lifestyle, including our health and long-term well-being.  With all the care taken by Selah Vista Homes Architect, Designer, Builder and Realtor (Brenda Nunes with Keller Williams Realty) to use materials that limited the VOC’s and have been vetted as non-toxic, you can be comforted in breathing fresh, clean air. Relaxing in what surrounds you every day.  I love maintenance costs reduced by the materials used, the heating and cooling costs by the use of insulated R-47 walls, R-52 ceiling, R-20 foundation, plus the use of solar.    The cost savings for your health care, the running of the home, maintenance is calculated to save a homeowner in the range of $3,000-$5,000 a year. That might be conservative in my mind.
